Stop and smell the roses Saturday! Gardening knowledge

Hey, adventurers!

Well, I started a new class this past Monday through Oregon State University–a master gardener class.

I’ve loved flowers all my life. Really. As my mother wheeled me through Walmart as a toddler, she said I liked the silk flower aisle better than the toy department. Go figure.

Anyway, the first week has been about basic botany. I’m learning lots about fungi and vascular plants. Next week, we’re on to soils and compost.

Can’t wait to expand my horticultural knowledge and hopefully make the world a little greener.

What is your favorite flower/plant? Let me know in the comments! 🙂

Happy Trails!

  1. I have so many flowers/plants that I like, I don’t think I can pick a favorite. I would love to be able to have a wildflower garden with plants indigenous to my area – ones that would attract and feed wildlife. So far, I haven’t had a lot of luck. If I had to pick, it would probably be the Trout Lily. I have a huge, natural patch of these on my property. Unfortunately, they don’t transplant well and need a really specific habitat to flourish.
