Gene Stratton-Porter: Author and Naturalist

Hello, adventurers!

I’m finally starting to recover from our road trip to the always-spectacular Bar Harbor, Maine.

While traveling the byways of my home state of Indiana, we happened upon this little gem: The Limberlost State Historic Site in Geneva, Indiana. Gene, or Geneva, Stratton-Porter’s books inspired me to look more closely at nature as a child, especially Freckles and The Girl of the Limberlost.

Enjoy the photos! 🙂

Had the honor of playing this pump organ, and received free “Limberlost” sheet music for doing so! Played “Silent Night” in June. 😉
