Magickal Monday! Smudging with sage

Hello, adventurers!

Hope your week is off to a grand start! 🙂

On a rare, cool cloudy July day, I tried smudging for the first time.

To be honest, I had not heard of the practice of burning a sage bundle to purify the home until recently and was intrigued by an ancient Native American tradition. Other herbs such as lavender and mugwort can be used in smudging.

Among the benefits of smudging are:

  • Reducing bacteria
  • Removal of negative energy
  • Aromatherapy

When smudging, make sure to cover all the nooks and crannies and keep safe with a fireproof bowl such as an abalone shell. As you begin, clear your mind of negative thoughts, and you can also say a meaningful prayer or set an intention as your cleanse your space.

Live in an apartment or a dorm and can’t burn a smudge stick? A smudge spray is a great way to experience the effects of sage.

Let me know how it goes if you try it! I love hearing from you. ❤

Happy Trails!

    1. Hi Diane! I purchased a smudge stick from However, making a smudge stick is fun! You can make your smudge stick/bundle with fresh sage if you’d like and then hang it upside down for around three weeks to dry it out before burning. Let me know if you try it! 🙂
